1000 Preserved Aircraft in Colour
This brilliant book illustrates the vast range of aircraft which have been preserved all over the globe. The definition of the term 'preserved' in the context of this book is a broad one. The aircraft recorded are either a part of museum exhibits, on display elsewhere, or most notably as gate guardians of military bases the world over. The aircraft in these pages can therefore either be static or still flying, as is the case with the many vintage and civil light aircraft which can be seen at airshows.
Each colour photographs is accompanied by an informative caption, and arranged in type order enabling development to be traced. Inevitably, military aircraft predominate but vintage civil types and classic airliners also feature. The book reflects today's growing trend to preserve classic airliners in flying condition, one which many aviation enthusiasts resolutely endorse.
This is an attractive, well-produced book which is certain to appeal to wide audience. Gerry Manning has travelled to aviation museums all over the gloge painstakingly capturing each craft over the course of the last 25 years to give the most comprehensive range possible.
