There would appear to be significant interest from railway enthusiasts, frequently modellers, for detailed information on the subject of historic technical data and illustrations for withdrawn classes of diesel and electric locomotive and multiple-unit, including the usual dimensions, but also covering general information such as delivered liveries and the class’s progression to the ‘modern’ railway of today. Following the current ‘Recognition’ format, this book sticks to the established A5 style and gives every class of diesel and electric loco a spread, covering full technical details, followed by illustrations showing vehicle ends, both sides and an action picture of the class detailing livery and covering any obvious modifications in the text.Colin Marsden provides a variety of wonderful colour and mono illustrations, with some additional detailed images showing equipment positions. The entire ‘modern’ diesel and electric loco fleet is covered in this title in great detail and beautifully illustrated with many unseen images.
